"The Winnie Blues is initially a track I wrote for a laugh between friends, but it grew on me. It was just slang for ‘the winter blues’ really. We used to sing it for a laugh until I realised how true the song was for how I was living at the time, and that it was probably similar for anyone else living in their first share-house and running in to all the mundane week-to-week speed bumps that wear us down. It’s pretty tongue in cheek… As a catastrophic over-thinker, I guess I always thought it fascinating and a little bit funny that for some people it’s as simple as spotting a discount air-fare, packing the suitcase and leaving it all behind to smoke a few ciggies in the tropics. That’s the dream."
